A Bit About Me....

Hello, my name is Tonyetta Fields and I am a special education teacher. I teach Affective Needs, grades 6-8, at an inner city middle school in Denver, Colorado. I attended Metropolitan State University of Denver where I obtained a BSW, and my teaching license. A few of my hobbies include sewing, listening to live jazz music, attending athletic events, and coaching cheerleading. I am a proud mother of three amazing children who keep me busy! One interesting fact about me is I have a twin sister whose name is Tonya.

I consider myself to be at the intermediate level in regards to technology.  Although I have tinkered with the MAC, I have more experience with and prefer a PC. Currently, I use a laptop, iPad, and Galaxy for my personal use. Technology in my classroom is limited to a projector, document camera, and laptop. My school is in the process of purchasing my classroom a Promethean board and chrome books. I have had experience teaching with a smart board, and have found this interactive tool to be very helpful for students. I have Windows 7 as my operating system.

I have been inspired to attend PSC because I have family roots in education and in Nebraska. I am at a place in my career where I know I must increase my knowledge base in order to better serve my students and families. I have a strong desire to be an effective educator. One who increases student outcomes, builds lasting relationships and helps mentor productive citizens of society. In this next step of my journey, I have decided to pursue a graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction at PSC. In addition to my desires listed above, I also seek to develop a curriculum that is specific to the population I serve: helping minority and troubled youth.  I am most excited to be taking Mulimedia Authoring course because I believe I will learn valuable technology tools that will engage my students and propel their learning as 21st century students!
